abstract.

Through the years, photography has been used and misused in cultural and physical sciences. Employing the pseudo- science Physiognomy, da Vinci's drawings of ideal human form, and other standards I will study features thought to be beautiful and collect samples of these. I will present individual features displayed grid style, as well as several images composited from separate studies. In some cases I may use an information overlay technique in order to further analyze and/or classify. The technology that existed during the time in question (nineteenth century) was primitive, so I will return to that and probably use stained cyanotype or van Dyke processes to create this study.
